Payroll services run by the same TPB-registered BAS agent every time. PAYG, super, STP Phase 2 and entitlements calculated, reported and paid on schedule, all quarter long.

What Our Payroll Services Cover
Payroll problems rarely begin in the software. An award changes and nobody catches it, or a casual’s loading is set once and never reviewed. Our payroll services are run by TPB-registered BAS agents, the same agents who handle BAS for Melbourne small businesses and not-for-profits.
One agent owns your account, so nothing gets re-explained each quarter. We’ve been running small business payroll services here for more than 15 years, and since payday super started this July, every pay schedule is built around super landing in funds within seven business days. Compliance managed across the quarter, not corrected under deadline pressure.
What Do Payroll Services Include?
Payroll management services cover everything from gross-to-net calculation through to ATO reporting. For small business clients, these six components carry most of the compliance weight.
PAYG withholding
Tax withheld from every wage at current ATO rates, reported each pay run and reconciled at BAS time. Because a BAS agent runs both, your withholding and your activity statement never tell different stories.
Super guarantee calculation and payment
Super is calculated at 12% on qualifying earnings and received by the fund within seven business days of payday, the rule since payday super began on 1 July 2026. We schedule payments early enough to survive clearing house delays.
STP Phase 2 reporting
Every payday, STP Phase 2 reporting reaches the ATO on or before payment, with income types disaggregated the way the ATO expects. Single Touch Payroll services are included as standard.
Entitlement accrual
Annual leave, personal leave and long service leave accrued against the correct award classification, so a resignation or leave request never turns into an argument about the balance.
Payslips
Compliant payslips issued within one working day of payment, showing everything Fair Work requires. Employee self-service payroll access is available, so staff can pull their own payslips and year-to-date figures without asking you.
Termination pay
Final pays done properly, covering unused leave, notice, redundancy where it applies, and the right tax treatment on each component. Termination pay is where DIY payroll most often goes wrong.
How Do Payroll Services Work Once You Hand Over?
Setup and handover
We take your current payroll data, check award classifications and super fund details, and confirm year-to-date figures. Mid-year switches are routine.
Every pay run
You send hours or approve timesheets. We calculate, process and file STP, then issue payslips. You see the total before anything is paid.
Super and PAYG
Super paid inside the payday super window. PAYG reported, then reconciled against your BAS by the same agent.
Quarter-end and EOFY
BAS lodged, STP finalised, income statements ready for your staff by mid-July. No year-end scramble.
What Payroll Compliance Actually Covers
Compliance is bigger than paying the right amount on the right day. Awards change most years, and Fair Work penalties apply whether an underpayment was deliberate or just a rate nobody updated.
Trades businesses carry a second layer that most payroll service providers never touch: CoInvest, Incolink and Protect contributions, plus TPAR where contractor payroll is involved. Our payroll compliance services cover that layer inside the standard fee. We also run payroll services for not-for-profits, where salary packaging and volunteer reimbursements bring their own rules.
Who Is Allowed to Run Your Payroll?
Anyone can press Process Pay Run in Xero. The law cares about what sits behind the button. When a provider works out PAYG withholding, interprets super obligations or lodges STP on your behalf for a fee, that’s a BAS service under the Tax Agent Services Act 2009, and it requires registration with the Tax Practitioners Board.
An unregistered operator charging for this is breaking the law, and the ATO still holds you responsible for your own obligations. Our agents are TPB-registered. Verify any provider of payroll outsourcing services on the public TPB register before you sign, ours included.

Payroll Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a payroll service for my small business?
Not if payroll is simple. An owner with two salaried staff and decent software can run it alone. Most Melbourne businesses aren’t in that position. Casual loading and penalty rates are where owners lose whole weekends, and that’s the point where payroll services for small business earn their fee.
Can a BAS agent provide payroll services?
Yes, and for paid work touching withholding or STP, TPB registration is what the law requires. The Tax Practitioners Board treats those functions as BAS services. There’s a practical upside as well: the agent lodging your BAS has already seen every pay run behind it, which is why our payroll management services sit with the BAS team.
How does payroll work for a small business with casual staff?
Casuals get a 25% loading in place of paid leave, and shifts can hit different penalty rates depending on the day and time worked. We process every pay run from actual timesheets. Saved pay templates are how most casual underpayments start. STP still reports each payment, however irregular the hours.
What happens if super is paid late?
The super guarantee charge applies. Under payday super, a contribution reaching the fund after seven business days is late, even if it left your account on time. You pay the shortfall with daily compounding interest, plus an administrative uplift, and penalties can reach 50% of the charge on top.
Can you take over payroll mid-financial year?
Yes. Mid-year handovers are most of the handovers we do. Year-to-date figures come across through STP so income statements stay accurate, and we check super and leave balances against the old file before the first run. Anything already wrong gets flagged early, while it’s still cheap to fix.
How do I choose a payroll service provider?
Check TPB registration on the public register before anything else. Then ask who runs your account day to day. Plenty of payroll outsourcing services in Melbourne rotate clients through a pool, which means re-explaining your awards every quarter. Basic payroll processing services run the numbers and leave award interpretation with you, so ask who owns that.
What does outsourced payroll cost?
Headcount and pay frequency drive most of it. A weekly pay run with casuals takes more managing than a monthly salaried one. Outsourced payroll services here are quoted as a fixed monthly fee, with no lock-in. If payroll outsourcing cost is the deciding factor, ask for a number against your actual staff list.
Can you handle payroll and bookkeeping together?
That’s the model. Combined payroll and bookkeeping services put the pay run and the bank feed in front of the same agent, so nothing is coded twice or missed between two providers. Quarter-end gets faster too, because the reconciliation work is already done by the time the BAS is due.
